What is craniosacral work?

Craniosacral work is a gentle form of hands-on bodywork that works with the deepest tissues in the body. The focus is on the 22 cranial bones, spine and sacrum as well as the brain, cerebrospinal fluid and surrounding membranes. The touch is very light, engaging the body’s own rhythms for healing.

Craniosacral work is beneficial for a number of conditions, both physical and stress related.

Below is a partial list:

Back Pain (chronic and acute)

Car accidents

Central nervous system disorders

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Concussions

Dental trauma

Facial trauma

Fibromyalgia

Headaches/migraines

Pain relief

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Sacral-Iliac issues

Scoliosis

Sinus Problems

Spinal Stenosis

Tempromandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD)

Tension relief

Tinnitus

Trauma recovery

Whiplash

After the session

At the end of the session clients usually feel deeply relaxed. Sometimes it is possible to feel a bit sore or experience heightened emotional perception within the first 24 hours. As the session is processed and tissues re-align, these sensations dissipate. Clients usually report better sleep and energy levels, and often, a sense of profound well-being and a decrease in symptoms. It usually takes a day or two to fully integrate the session.

How many sessions are needed

Every person and their individual need are so unique that the number of sessions it will take to resolve a particular issue is not really possible to predict. Some clients experience complete relief or a significant improvement in symptoms in just two or three sessions, while in other cases it takes many more.

Together, we will discuss your expectations and goals for treatment and continually evaluate our progress. My goal, always, is to resolve the issue at hand quickly and comprehensively, so that you can be and feel well without the support of the therapy.
